Catechetical Ministry Faith Formation (CCD) Often referred to as CCD, these programs focus on the religious development of our parish's younger members and preparation for the sacraments of First Communion and First Reconciliation. The Faith formation process is designed for 3 year olds through 8th Graders. It enhances and nurtures their faith experience. Sessions are held at various times during the week, and are led by prepared catechists at Saturday and Sunday masses. These are Lectionary sessions based on the Sunday readings. Please see calendar. Parents please note that Faith Formation begins one-half hour before mass. This is a wonderful time for you to join other parents in the Gathering Plaza for Fellowship or you may take this time for yourself to get to know and experience a quiet time with God. Participation and sharing are a gift you give to others. Please join us after Mass for refreshments and fellowship in the Gathering Plaza. For information call the Catechetical Director and check the calendar for events.

Liturgy of the Word for Children This special opportunity for children 5 to 11 years of age is offered at all Saturday and Sunday masses throughout the Summer, June through September. The children are dismissed after the gathering prayer and go to the Parish Hall with a catechist. The Word is experienced in age appropriate language and prayer. The children are returned to the Church for the celebration of the Eucharist. See calendar for session dates or call the Catechetical Director for more information. Little Rock Scripture Study To improve familiarity with the Holy Scriptures and encourage daily reading of the Holy Scriptures. We typically complete two studies each year, 1 at the first of the year (starting in mid-January) and 1 in the fall (starting in mid-September). The studies cover a single book of the Bible and last from 8 to 14 weeks. Each study involves daily reading of the scripture and a related biblical commentary with weekly small group meetings to discuss the week's readings. The weekly small group meetings typically take place in the evenings at private homes and last from 1.5 to 2 hours. They include a video lecture at the end covering the week's readings. There are presently 7 small groups (ranging in size from 8 to 10 members) actively participating in program. We have completed studies of The Acts of the Apostles, The Gospel according to Mark, Paul's Captivity Letters, Exodus and the Psalms. Contact: Geoff Flynn c/o the Parish Office 858-653-3540

Middle School Faith Formation Our Junior High Faith Formation is a single unit that is comprised of seventh and eighth graders. The classes will focus strongly on the religious education of the students and also feature an introduction into the social side of our parish community. Classes are held the first and third Thursday of the month and will facilitate their upcoming transition into the high school years and continued parish involvement. The religious content will utilize the Faith First Junior High Resource For Christian Living and be comprised of: 1. Scripture - typically the upcoming Sunday readings. 2. Doctrine - what Catholics believe. 3. Morality - applying God's word and our beliefs. 4. Prayer - keeping in touch with God. On the social side we expect to have time during each class for some fun and fellowship so that the students can establish and maintain connections with their St. Gregory junior high comrades. This could include: 1. Projects - service and community oriented. 2. Games - team building and just plain fun. 3. Entertainment - songs, videos, skits, etc. For more information please contact our Junior High Coordinator or the Director of Catechetical Ministry through the Parish Office.
