Sacramental Ministry

Baptismal Preparation
The Sacrament of Baptism for infants requires that both parents and godparents attend a Baptismal Seminar. This seminar needs to be completed at least one month prior to the celebration. Please try to arrange the baptism of your child within six months of the birth. Pre-baptismal seminars are held monthly at the home of parishioners, Tom and Joni Dieters or Joe and Debbie Kutyla. At least three months notice is required.

Please call Father Nick Clavin at the Parish Office to make your child's baptismal arrangements.

First Eucharist
Each Sacramental process is a two year preparation. The Sacraments are the center and the heart of Christian life. In keeping with this belief, guided instructional sessions and materials are available for parents and children. Children must be =registered in the faith formation process to assess their Sacramental needs.

The Sacraments of First Eucharist and First Reconciliation require personal faith development. Parents have the privilege of participating in the teaching of their children. See calendar for session dates or call the Catechetical Director for more information.

Adult Confirmation Preparation
If you are a baptized Catholic who has received First Eucharist and Reconciliation and are out of high school but have not yet been Confirmed in the faith and wish to, this program is for you.

Each year the bishop comes to our parish to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. Each spring our parish offers those who were not confirmed as teens to come forward to be confirmed.

There is an eight week refresher class offered here at the parish. We meet one evening each week in an informal setting to discuss faith and spirituality.

Confirmation is the completion of your Christian Initiation in the Church. The administrative and ministerial staff at Saint Gregory the Great Parish is here to serve and assist you on your journey of faith.

Teen Confirmation Preparation
The first step in preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is to join other teenagers in the Youth Ministry program, “Mission 3:16” (Please see Mission 3:16 pamphlet).

Confirmation preparation is a two-year commitment, which generally culminates in the 10th grade. However, anyone of high school age is welcome to join us for our club nights for the first year of this program. Club nights are part of the regular youth ministry program, meeting on Monday nights.

The second year of Confirmation preparation is held on one Wednesday night per month. You have a chose of the 2nd or 4th Wednesday of the month.

For more information please contact the Youth Office or the parish web site.

Marriage Preparation
The first step in preparation for the Sacrament of Matrimony, if you are a registered parishioner, is to contact a priest or deacon from the parish . If you are not registered in the parish or are registered in another parish, contact a priest or deacon from the parish you belong to. The priest or deacon will assist you with information about the diocesan preparation programs, paperwork, and liturgy planning.

Once you have obtained a commitment from a priest or deacon to preside at your rehearsal and wedding ceremony contact the Wedding Coordinator for Saint Gregory the Great Parish. The Wedding Coordinator will check the availability of date and time and answer any general questions you may have. The actual booking, fee contract, and deposit will be done with our parish Office Director. Wedding guide lines will be given to you at this time.

The administrative and ministerial staff at Saint Gregory the Great Parish is here to serve and assist you at this very special time in your life.

Wedding Ministry
The purpose is to assist the wedding coordinator and celebrant of the liturgy (Priest or Deacon) with rehearsal and wedding ceremony. The mission is to bring an awareness of the sacredness of the ceremony and to help maintain a prayerful atmosphere.

It is helpful to have some background as a Eucharistic Minister. Most important is a helpful and friendly attitude.

The wedding coordinator will provide you with parish guidelines and procedures for weddings. You will learn the different parts of the wedding liturgy.
